fieldtask_list_timesheet_entries
Read-only- Permissions
members:read,timesheets:read- REST equivalent
GET /public/v1/timesheets/entries- Safe retries
- Reads only; safe to repeat
fieldtask_list_timesheet_entries lets an AI client list one member's individual timesheet entries over a range of 1–31 days, ordered by start time. Each entry has its start and end time and, where available, the job it was recorded against.
Use it for "what did Alex work on on Tuesday?". For "how many hours", the client should use fieldtask_get_timesheet_range instead.
Same checks and results as REST GET /public/v1/timesheets/entries.
Permissions
| Permission | Dependency in the permission map |
|---|---|
members:read | No dependencies |
timesheets:read | Depends on members:read |
Job names on entries also need jobs:read. Without it, every entry's job is null. The tool appears only where FieldTask has enabled timesheet reads.
How the client uses it
FieldTask's tool description tells the client to:
- resolve the person with
fieldtask_list_membersand use their member ID; - follow cursors with the same member, dates and page size;
- use
fieldtask_get_timesheet_rangefor worked hours, and not add up paged entries as a total.
Entries keep their full start and end times, even where they extend beyond the range, so adding them up can give a different figure from the report.
Example prompts
| You ask | What the client typically does |
|---|---|
| "What did Alex work on on 2 November?" | Calls fieldtask_list_members, then this tool with start_date and end_date both 2026-11-02, and lists the jobs. |
| "Show Alex's time entries this week." | Calls this tool for the week's dates and follows page.next_cursor until page.has_more is false. |
| "List every entry Alex has this year." | Splits the period into ranges of up to 31 days, and shorter ones if a range has too many entries. |
Arguments
{
"member_id": "33333333-3333-4333-8333-333333333333",
"start_date": "2026-11-02",
"end_date": "2026-11-08",
"page_size": 50
}
member_id,start_dateandend_dateare required. The dates follow the same rules as timesheet totals.page_sizeis 1–100 and defaults to 25. To keep results within MCP's size limit, a page can hold fewer entries thanpage_sizewhilepage.has_moreis stilltrue.- To read the next page, the client passes
page.next_cursorback ascursorwith every other argument unchanged. Cursors expire within 24 hours.
A range can contain at most 5,000 entries for the member. If it has more, the call fails with report_too_large on every page. A smaller page_size doesn't help; the client must use a shorter range.
