Overview

FieldTask's developer platform lets other software read and create records in a FieldTask organization: jobs, customers and their locations, products and prices, job line items, draft quotes and invoices, and member invitations. It can also report worked hours and tell you when records change.

There are two ways in:

REST APIMCP

You sendHTTP requests with IDsPlain-language requests; the client calls tools

Both use the same permissions, checks, limits and records. A job created through MCP is the same as one created through REST.

To keep another system up to date, use webhooks or the event feed for customers, locations, jobs and members.

The platform reads and creates records only. It doesn't update or delete existing records, cancel or reschedule jobs, change assignments or roles, send quotes or invoices, collect payments, or accept quotes. Use the FieldTask app for those.

What you need

  • A FieldTask organization with API access enabled. An owner or admin requests it in Settings → API connections.
  • An owner or admin to create the connection and choose its permissions.
  • Some features, such as timed scheduling, job items, quotes and invoices, must also be enabled by FieldTask, and invoicing must be turned on for your organization.

See Release status for what's decided about availability, support and versioning.
